Bank Zachodni WBK once again listed on WSE Respect Index

Respect Index

Bank Zachodni WBK has, once again, been selected by the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) as a member of the RESPECT Index – a group of the 16 most socially-responsible companies.

As the hosts of the seventh edition of the RESPECT Index, the Warsaw Stock Exchange and Deloitte, point out, Bank Zachodni WBK has met stringent requirements and criteria of the Respect Index, thus joining the group of companies that are now in the new index portfolio. This year’s edition has witnessed the listing of 23 companies, with the new index being released from 23 December 2013 onwards.

The key assumption of the Respect Index is to promote the utmost standards of responsible management.

A detailed and comprehensive vetting process the index listed companies have undergone proves that the social responsibility is high on their agendas.

Being on the Respect Index is insofar important as it pertains to the social responsibility of business that is becoming a yet more important element of the companies' business strategies. This project is an excellent way to promote this attitude to the conduct of business and prompts others to embark on the change.
Therefore, it is very important for us to belong to this still elitist circle, and to be at the forefront of such initiatives.
This is also a matter of great relevance to our main shareholder, Banco Santander, which has been recognised by Financial Times as the most sustainable global bank. Our presence on the Respect Index affirms the title, concludes Artur Sikora, Head of BZWBK Corporate Communication and Marketing Area.

It is the seventh consecutive edition of the RESPECT Index. Bank Zachodni WBK has been qualified for the second time. Owing to the ownership reshuffle in 2011 and exit from WIG20, BZWBK could not take part in the previous editions, but the social responsibility has been part and parcel of its corporate culture.
